TypoGraphy

CALENDAR DESIGN:

Select 12 well-known figures from the history of typography and design a calendar inspired by the type and design sensibility of the typographers. Each month of the calendar feature one typographer with introduction of his/her background and type specimen. I explorec typography and digital techniques within the context of contemporary graphic design, with an emphasis on the experimental and the exploratory.

Digital Typeface: Harry Potter

Design a typeface based on my chosen concept: Harry Potter. This project encourages me to pursue open-ended and unique design, and go beyond the limitations of commercial type foundries and create a unique digital display typeface, from A to Z (both uppercase and lowercase) to numerical and punctuation marks. This project is designed to enable me to consider my practice in relation to cultural, social and theoretical contexts of contemporary typography and discover emerging themes that begin to inform my creative practice.

Art and Design in Social Wellbeing

(INDIVIDUAL PROJECT)

BRIEF:

Cities are changing. Across the world, people are leaving their cars at home and setting out on public transport and/or embracing active travel, which is defined as: making journeys by physically active means such as cycling or walking. However, this rise is not the case across the elderly, nor seen in villages, towns and smaller cities where many people still rely on cars. Each year in Greater Manchester, people make 250 million car journeys that could be walked in 10 minutes. Encouraging everyone, including older people, to make more active travel choices such as walking and cycling could result in improved physical and mental health.

MY PROJECT: MODERN WALKING FESTIVAL

My idea is to organize a festival featuring shopping booths & charity activities to give the elderly who don’t like walking the opportunity to get around and experience the booths and get discounts. There may include some health-promoting activities. For example, 50% discount booths might take place 500 m far from the starting point, and they have to walk.FINAL OUTCOME:
